L’annonce, à laquelle personne ne s’attendait, est tombée il y a quelques heures. L’opposant ivoirien Tidjane THIAM a annoncé ce lundi 12 mai sa démission de son poste de Président du Parti Démocratique de Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI), la principale formation opposée au régime en place d’Alassane OUATTARA.

Dans une publication faite sur ses réseaux sociaux, le jadis banquier et bien connu des milieux d’affaires internationaux affirme que cette décision a été prise dans l’intérêt du parti. Pourtant, “il reste au service du peuple”, a-t-il tout de même rajouté.

Alors que l’élection présidentielle d’octobre prochain avance à grands pas, Tidjane THIAM a été radié en avril dernier de la liste électorale par la justice ivoirienne, estimant qu’il avait d’office perdu la nationalité ivoirienne quand il a acquis la nationalité française en 1987.

Le climat politique demeure tendu en Côte d’Ivoire, où plusieurs opposants de premier plan sont inéligibles.
