ONU : Philémon YANG élu Président de la 79ème session de l’Assemblée Générale

À trois mois de l’ouverture de la 79ème session ordinaire de l’Assemblée générale des Nations Unies, prévue en septembre prochain à New-York aux États-Unis, Philemon YANG, ancien Premier ministre du Cameroun entre 2OO9 et 2O19, a été élu, jeudi 06 juin, à ladite Présidence tournante pour un mandat d’un an.

Cet ancien diplomate anglophone et magistrat succède à Dennis FRANCIS, representant permanent de la Trinité-et-Tobago auprès de l’ONU, élu le 01er juin 2O23.

En définitive, la Présidence tournante de l’Assemblée générale de l’ONU n’est rien d’autre qu’une fonction administrative et honorifique, qui consiste à organiser les débats et les travaux de l’instance internationale.
